The Language Center at the University of Zakho has announced the opening of registration for Turkish language courses (TÖMER) for all interested learners, with registration continuing from May 5 to May 15, 2026.
Admission to the Turkish language course will be based on a placement test designed to determine participants’ language proficiency levels. The examination will be conducted at the Language Center of the University of Zakho in coordination with the TÖMER examination staff from Şırnak University and will follow internationally recognized academic standards. After the placement process, participants will be assigned to the appropriate level and may proceed with the course.
The duration of each TÖMER level, including the final examination, is 132 hours, covering all essential language competencies. The course extends over 11 weeks, with classes held three days per week and four instructional hours per day. Participants must obtain a minimum score of 60% in the final examination to pass the course. Those who fail the final examination will not be eligible for a retake and must re-enroll in the course.
The announcement also clarified that the placement test fee is IQD 50,000. Applicants are required to visit the University Presidency’s Accounting Directorate on the second floor to receive the payment receipt and then submit it to the Language Center, third floor, Room No. 64. Meanwhile, the tuition fee for the Turkish language course is IQD 150,000.
