University of Zakho Participates in Preparatory Meeting for International Conference on Herbal Medicine

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration, the University of Zakho participated in the first preparatory meeting for an upcoming joint international conference on “Herbal Medicine,” scheduled to be held at the end of April 2027.

The University of Zakho was represented by a distinguished academic delegation comprising:

Prof. Dr. Jasim Mohammed Abdo, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies.

Prof. Dr. Dindar Shams Al-Din Bari, Director General of the Scientific Research Centers.

Prof. Dr. Hamid Saeed Kachel, Head of the Department of Biology, College of Science.

The conference will be jointly organized by five academic institutions: University of Zakho, Erbil Polytechnic University, Salahaddin University–Erbil, Hawler Medical University, and Şırnak University in Türkiye.

The preparatory meeting, held at Mergasor Technical Institute, brought together the directors and representatives of the participating institutions. Discussions focused on developing the initial framework of the conference, establishing the scientific and organizing committees, and defining responsibilities among the participating institutions to ensure effective coordination and the successful delivery of the event.

The conference is expected to provide an important academic platform for researchers and specialists to exchange knowledge, present recent scientific findings, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the field of herbal medicine. It also represents a valuable step toward strengthening regional and international academic partnerships.
