Under the patronage of His Excellency President Masoud Barzani, the University of Zakho will hold the First International Scientific Conference entitled: “Drug Addiction and Its Impact on Society: Causes, Consequences, and Strategic Solutions” on 13–14 May 2026.

It is worth noting that, in addition to local researchers, several international experts will also participate in this conference by presenting research papers and sharing the experiences of their countries on various topics, including: the reality of drug abuse from different perspectives (historical, health, psychological, social, economic, educational, legal, etc.), the level of drug prevalence within society, the main causes and driving factors of drug abuse, the impact of drugs on the individual and society, as well as discussing modern methods and approaches for dealing with drug users and raising awareness among members of society.
